There are certain undeniable perks to living in a big city. From the convenient shopping to mass transit to the diverse array of places to go and things to do, it’s no wonder that so many people flock to big cities.

But even if you’re a “city-person” through and through, you might find yourself craving a change of scenery — even if just for the weekend. Maybe it’s been a long week at work and you need to treat yourself. Or, maybe you simply can’t remember the last time you left town for the weekend. If that’s you, it might be time for a weekend beach getaway.

Here are 3 places you should consider going.

1. Cherry Grove, SC

Located just north of Myrtle Beach South Carolina, Cherry Grove is a great spot for anyone looking for less-expensive rentals. In fact, a recent study found that, on average, it only costs $126/night to rent in Cherry Grove. And given that it’s right down the road from Myrtle Beach, you won’t run out of things to do. You could go for a morning jog along the boardwalk, lay out on the beach all day, and still have plenty of time left for evening shopping and dining.

Oh, and if like to golf while you’re on vacation, you’ll have dozens of courses to choose from. From Azalea Sands, to Barefoot Dye, to Beachwood, and more, there are plenty of courses in and around Cherry Grove to keep any golfer entertained.

2. Panama City Beach, FL

If you live a bit closer to Florida, a weekend getaway to Panama City Beach might be doable. And if it is, you should cancel your weekend plans, book a place to stay, and go enjoy the beautiful white sand beaches and jaw-dropping sunsets that Panama City Beach has to offer! In addition to ranking as one of the top spots in terms of rental proximity to beach, it also received 4.5 stars on TripAdvisor.

And once you get to Panama City, you’ll find a variety of things to do. From St. Andrews State Park, which is just 10 minutes down the road, to the Zoological conservatory, to Panama City Beach Winery, your agenda can be as booked-up or as free as you’d like.

3. Brigantine, NJ

Now, if you live up north, you might not be interested in trekking all the way down to South Carolina or Florida for the weekend, but Brigantine could be a nice alternative. Located less than 2 and a half hours outside of NYC, Brigantine would make for the perfect get-away if you’re from the Big Apple. Not to mention the fact that it received 4.5/5 stars on Yelp and tops the chart on beach towns that give you the most bang for your buck.

Once you arrive, you’ll find that Brigantine, and the surrounding area, has a lot to offer. You could spend all day on the beach and then head to Atlantic City in the evening, which is just a short 12-minute drive away. Once you get there, you could also explore the Absecon lighthouse, or spend the night at Caesars.

Now that you have a better idea of where to go, it’s time to pack your bag, grab a good book and head out the door for the weekend. You’ve got a vacation to catch!
