Wedding dress shopping can be the most stressful part of the planning process for brides. Not only do you go into it with expectations on what your dream dress will look like, but you have the added pressure of “impressing” the close ladies in your life when you walk out of the dressing room. You might find a dress you feel confident and beautiful in, but all it takes is the opinion of a loved one to send you into a tailspin about whether or not it’s the right dress for you.
Wedding dress styles have been ever-evolving over the past few years, largely due in part to celebrities walking down the aisle in new designs that inspire brides all over. The Knot recently scouted Bridal Fashion Week runways to uncover the most popular trends of 2020 and the styles were, let’s say, equally unique as they are beautiful.
Some of these runway trends, we’ve all seen before like the ballgown or tiered skirt style while others are new in the bridal scene. Florals, puffy sleeves, sheer, and pantsuits are making waves this year with brides all over.
While on the dress hunt, many brides might not know that some wedding dress styles are more popular than others in their respective area which could help them in the selection process. Shane Co. conducted a study using Google Shopping data to find out the most searched style in every state and overall. The ball gown style, which is one to look out for this year according to runway shows, was the most searched dress overall. Following was the princess style, A-line, and long sleeve. It’s interesting to see how styles vary across our nation as sleeveless gowns of all different styles are popular in the south while up north long sleeve dresses are topping the ranks.
At the end of the day, your wedding dress is yours and for your special day only. Finding the perfect one might take days, weeks, or even months but when you find it – you’ll know.
